Here's the video. The goal in making this was to document the whole climb. As a result, it's not quite as action packed as the modern climbing films that usually just give a general impression of routes. Unfortunately the raw footage is not the best -- the lighting conditions were bad, the filming angles were difficult, and there was lots of background noise. Anyway, I did my best to edit something together that shows what the climb is about. I think the side and back angles don't do justice to the steepness of the climb, but hopefully the top down footage tells that story.
Cool indeed. You should experiment with running shaky footage through the image stabilizer in iMovie or other editing packages. It can turn the unusable into the usable.
Nice one man. It's cool that you got video of the climb. It deserves to be shown in all it's glory! Congrats on finally linking it. And it was really interesting to see the different beta that you figured out for all the different sections- the begging right off the ledge, that funky little rightward traverse section before that weird flaring seam that I just lie-backed and you hand-jammed in with your opposite hand (good work figuring that out!), and way different beta for the upper crux! Sick. Thanks for sharing.
Didn't end up sending Existence. Was super close but got hosed by weather on the last day. I'm pretty sure it would have gone down if conditions were good.
Fantastic Job! I was out there this weekend and the video does no justice, super impressed. How did you like the whole Canadian climbing scene? and do you think you would recommend it to your bros down in the states? Hope you had a good time, oh and did the sponsors put you up in the chateau? ahah
